HKUST x FTAHK Lunch Panel on Fintech in Greater Bay

The Fintech developments in Hong Kong are phenomenal which reflect the dynamic nature of the city and the strategic advantage of being right at the doorstep of China's vibrant Fintech scene.   As part of the Fintech Education Week 2018 led by Invest HK, a panel talk entitled “Fintech in Greater Bay: Opportunities and Strengths of the Region”, jointly organized with the Fintech Association of Hong Kong (FTAHK), was held on October 30.  Over 120 alumni and industry representatives were among the audience. The full house event demonstrated the School’s close partnership with the industry and reflected immerse interest towards the Greater Bay Area.  

The talk was moderated by alumnus Professor Kai-Lung Hui, Chair Professor of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management, and Co-Director for Dual Degree Program in Technology & Management and MSc in Financial Technology. Other panel members were alumnus Jonathan Cheung, Director of Strategic Partnership at Nova Credit, and two Co-Chairs of FTAHK committee on China Greater Bay Area: William Genovese, Vice President for Corporate Strategy, Financial Services at Huawei and Hayden Lau, Associate at DLA Piper.  The panel discussed on the latest fintech trends in the region, data landscape and credit technology, as well as Hong Kong’s strategic position in supporting fintech development with holistic data privacy regulations and strong talent pool.
