The HKUST Business School is a leader in global business education and committed to facilitating an informed discussion on topical issues. The collaboration with FTAHK has provided an exceptional platform for industry-academia exchange, with a view to promoting and contributing to a conducive ecology for FinTech.
The panel featured Prof KC Chan, Adjunct Professor of Finance and former Secretary for Financial Services and Treasury of HKSAR Government; Mr Alex Kong, Founder and Chairman of TNG FinTech Group; as well as two HKUST alumni: Mr Samson Lee, Founder & CEO of COIN STREET, and Mr Tat Lee, General Manager of Welab Hong Kong.
Moderated by Ms Veronica Fung, FTAHK Co-chair of Financial Inclusion and Literacy and also an HKUST alumna, the panel discussed the current regulatory regime, market risks, customer experience, and talent development, among others, to build a thriving FinTech sector. The speakers provided insights into the new skills and mindsets needed, ways to drive innovation, and the role the government should play to support the industry and educate the public.
Keen to bring members of the HKUST community closer to the industry, the event attracted an audience of over 150, comprising students and alumni from the HKUST Business School, FTAHK members and industry practitioners.
