MSc FinTech Program Launch Ceremony cum FinTech Symposium
Fintech is of great importance to Hong Kong because financial services, as one of the four economic pillars in Hong Kong, will be driven by the development of financial technologies significantly. At the same time, Mainland China has become one of the largest markets for Fintech in the world and hence has a great demand for employees with expertise in Fintech.
Given the multi-disciplinary nature of Fintech, the HKUST Master of Science in Financial Technology program represents concerted efforts of School of Business and Management, School of Engineering and School of Science, drawing expertise from areas such as information technology, blockchain technology, decision analytics, operations research, data science, machine learning, statistical inference, quantitative finance, financial engineering and risk management.
The first intake of the program will commence in September 2019. To celebrate this remarkable occasion, a Program Launch Ceremony cum FinTech Symposium will be organized on August 17. The highlight of the symposium will be a keynote address by prominent specialist in Finance Industry, Professor K C Chan, Senior Advisor to the Dean and Adjunct Professor of Finance, where he will discuss ‘Fintech Education in Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area’ from an academic perspective. Following the keynote session, a moderated panel discussion, representing a cross-section of financial practitioners from different renowned corporates, will draw participants into the conversation on ‘Virtual Bank and the Future of Fintech’.
