HKUST One Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition inaugurated in Clear Water Bay campus in 2011. It provides an integrated learning platform for HKUST and community members to create and evaluate new business ideas and for students to kick-start early their career in entrepreneurship. Both DJI (大疆创新) and Yunzhou （云洲智能）joined the first year’s competition.

Since 2016, the competition has expanded to mainland China, including Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhongshan and Beijing. Among these cities, Shenzhen presents the most vibrant chapter. Leveraging on regional industrial resources and alumni network, the competition fosters a collaborative and comprehensive platform to nurture start-ups in these cities. In 2020, the competition was launched in the Yangtze River Delta, aiming to activate and cultivate the HKUST entrepreneurial eco-system together with HKUSTers, local government and industrial partners in the area.
