HKUST MBA Alumni Class 1+1 (Shanghai)
How much do you know about Cryptocurrency and Blockchain? To provide our overseas alumni with continuous learning opportunities, the MBA office will organize an Alumni Class in Shanghai on Jan 12. One of the MBA faculty members, Professor Allen Huang will deliver a class on "Cryptocurrency, Blockchain, and Their Business Applications".
Alumni Class + Networking Drinks
In the class, you will learn more about the latest developments on cutting-edge business technologies. After the class, there will be a networking drinks session for HKUST alumni to reunite with each other, as well as expanding their professional network.
Alumni are welcome to extend the invitation to a friend or colleague who is interested in studying at HKUST MBA so he/she will have a taste of the world class MBA education and network. (Due to seat limitation, each alumnus can only bring one guest.)

Professor Allen Huang’s research focus is on textual processing, earnings management, financial analyst and short-selling. He has published in The Journal of Finance, Journal of Accounting Research, The Accounting Review, Management Science and Contemporary Accounting Research. Prior to joining HKUST, Professor Huang worked in the Quantitative Equity Strategy group in Lehman Brothers and Barclays Capital in New York. Professor Huang holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Duke University and a B.S. in Electronics from Peking University in China. |

The new entrepreneurial technology ventures like to describe themselves as “disruptive.” Among them, no technology today is as potentially revolutionary as the cryptocurrencies and the blockchain. These new systems can be the game changers for conventional money, payments, and record-keeping. Most importantly, they challenge the conventional role of trust in transactions.
In this talk, we will walk through the history of cryptocurrency, discuss blockchain’s interdisciplinary nature, and learn some insights from academic research.
